Kaleidoscopes were invented by a Scottish scientist in 1816. The word kaleidoscope is a Greek word
that means "Beautiful Form Watcher;" "kalos" means
beautiful, "eidos" means form, and "scopos" means
watcher. Kaleidoscopes are a fascinating toy and can be used to teach
children about reflecting the light of Jesus, in that light brings out the best part of a kaleidoscope.
Light and mirrors are the two main components in a Kaleidoscope. Without light to pass
through the tube, which then reflects off the mirrors, a kaleidoscope
will not display the wonderful forms inside.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the
light of life." John 8:12. Christians are like kaleidoscopes, because
when Jesus lives in their hearts, his light shines through, reflecting
the beautiful person God originally intended!
When you point your kaleidoscope towards the light, be reminded that Jesus is the Light of the
world. Never forget that people are watching you. Therefore, allow Jesus' light
to shine through!
