(Here’s a short, engaging children’s lesson and skit (for ages 7–12) based on Ephesians 4:11–16, portraying Paul writing his letter and teaching others what it means to grow together as the Body of Christ. Use it during lesson time or for a children’s moment during a church service. The skit portion can be memorized or read directly from printed scripts.)

Lesson
After Jesus rose from the dead and went back to Heaven, He told His followers to stay in Jerusalem and wait for a special gift—the Holy Spirit. They obeyed, and fifty days later, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was given to everyone who believed in Jesus.

Today, the Holy Spirit is still given to everyone who trusts Jesus as their Savior and Forever Friend. But this gift isn’t just for us! The Holy Spirit helps us work together as the Body of Christ until Jesus comes back—this is our purpose in life!

The Holy Spirit gives us power to love and serve others:
to be hands that help,
feet that go where there’s need,
mouths that share the good news,
eyes that see people’s needs,
ears that listen,
and hearts that love like Jesus.

 Skit: Parts With A Purpose

Cast: Paul (narrator), Messenger, Timothy, Lydia, Kids 1–4 (representing parts of the body), Waves (2 kids with blue scarves or fabric)

(Scene: Paul’s prison cell with scroll, pen, and stool)

PAUL (writing aloud): So Christ gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers. . .

MESSENGER (enters): Paul, what are you writing now?

PAUL: A letter to Jesus’ followers living in Ephesus. I’m telling them how God gave us different roles to help the Church grow strong—just like a body needs different parts to work!

TIMOTHY (peeks in): Oh! Like hands, feet, eyes, and ears?

PAUL: Exactly! Each one has a job. God wants us to use our gifts to help others--to be Christ's body until he returns!

LYDIA: (walks in) And when we do, the Church becomes united and mature—strong in faith!

(KIDS walk on stage one after the other, turn and face audience, and then say their line, making room for the next KID, remaining together for their final line)

KID 1: (walks on waving hands) I’m a helping hand! I love to serve.

KID 2: (walks on pointing down at marching feet) I go where Jesus sends me!

KID 3: (walks on looking around through binocular hands) I see the needs around me.

KID 4: (walks on holding hands behind ears) And I listen to others with love.

ALL TOGETHER: We’re different, but we work as one Body—and Christ is the head!

PAUL: (points to Kids playing Waves) Remember, if we don't stick together with Jesus, we’ll be like little kids getting pushed around by wrong ideas.

WAVES (waving scarves): Whoosh! Confusion! Lies! Doubt!

KID 1: (stumbles) Whoa! I don’t know what to believe!

KID 2: (steadies Kid 1) Let’s keep following Jesus!

KID 3: And speak the truth in love.

KID 4: Like Paul said!

PAUL: Yes! When we follow Christ and love one another, the Body grows stronger!

ALL: We are one Body—joined by Jesus! We grow in love when each part does its work!

(Everyone high-fives)

Discussion

1. Why is it important for Christians to stick together like a team?
2. What happens when we don’t listen to the truth about Jesus?
3. What do you think it means to be “tossed around by wrong ideas”?
4. How can we help each other stay strong in our faith?
5. What part of the Body of Christ do you feel like you are—hands, feet, eyes, ears, heart, or mouth? Why?
6. How does the Holy Spirit help us grow stronger as Christians?

Teach children about the gifts of the Spirit.
